Dr. Du graduated from Hunan Medical University Medical School in Hunan, China, which was founded by the Yale-China Association in 1906. He graduated with honors and was ranked 1st of all medical students within the class of 1989.
After medical school, he attended graduate school in 1992 at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College in Beijing, China, which was founded by the Rockfeller Foundation in 1921.
Dr. Du completed his residency at St. Vincent's Medical Center Manhattan Program of New York Medical College, with rotations at Columbia University.
Dr. Du went on to finish 2 neurology fellowships, the first in neuronal cell death from Washington University Medical School in St. Louis, MO, and the second in neurophysiology/EEG/EMG/sleep/neurosonology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Alabama.
